Vera works as a playwright based between Bucharest and London.
She graduated Theatre Directing at the National University of Theatre and Cinematography, Bucharest, in 2007. She also did an MA at the Goldsmiths University of London, in 2009, studying Cross Sectoral and Community Arts.
Also works in theatre, directing, writing and facilitating theatre workshops and projects based on generating new text and storytelling. She is one of the founding members of tangaProject and Ofensiva Generozitatii, together with whom she developed community arts projects both as theatre director and writer during 2005-2008. In 2010 she founds the play writing platform Write Yourself together with fellow writer and director Sorin Poama.

2008– “Dedalus Lounge” by Gary Duggan- performed at The Monday Theatre from Green Hours, as part of the mobile platform “4×4”, a tangaProject and Green Hours co-production. The show was also performed at “The other side of Expirat”, a club from Bucharest.
2007– “Monged”, by Gary Duggan, stageded as the diploma-production at the Student’s Studio Casandra in Bucharest, and then performed in several locations in Bucharest (Desant Theatre, Tespoint Club, La Scena club ) and in the country (Aeternativ Club in Timisoara, The Alternative Theatre Festival from Baia Mare). The show had two awards for best actors.
2007- “Deeds”, by Andrei Ionita, as part of the project “Build your community!”, an “The Offensive of Generosity” project for cultural representation and social change, following as main directions: creativity, documentary and social involvement. The project deals with the problem of evacuation, homelessness and potential homelessness, and lack of education.
2006- “Rape”, by Bogdan Georgescu- performed on the terrace of The Monday Theatre from Green Hours
2006- “A.N.L.”, by Radu Raileanu, as part of the project „Rahovanonstop”, which represents an 25-hour long theatrical marathon, in which directors, playwrights, actors and set designers, organized in five teams, joined their powers to write, stage and present five short performances, based on the real stories of the inhabitants of the Rahova-Uranus area. “Rahovanonstop” is a tangaProject production.
2012-2014: “I refuse to grow up. If you can make a small donation”, a onewoman show written and performed by Vera in several independent venues in Bucharest, produced as part of the project „Write Yourself”– an independent theatre platform which develops theatre plays based on personal experiences
2010-2012: “Ich clown”- co-written with Sorin Poama; produced and performed by the independent company „TureT theatre group” in several alternative theatre venues in Bucharest
2009: “Size Me”, a collaborative performance developed together with Tiina Hallakorpi and Mark Rietema; staged at the Tea Leaf Galler and part of the in the Brockley Max Festival, London
2009: “CCTV celebrities”– a collaborative performance written and performed together with Rj DeSmedt and Javiera Javre Vera; staged at the Amersham Arms in London, in September 2009
2008- “I represent Romania”– conceived as an action of supporting ICRNY in “the pink pony scandal”- the performance is a tangaProject event, and took place on the terrace of The Monday Theatre from Green Hours
2018-2020: “The “Write Yourself” School”– a one year pilot for a play writing school which trains people to write plays based on their own biographical expriences.
2013- “Write Yourself” Theater Festival (first edition) Bucharest- First Romanian independent theatre festival with a focus on new writers and autobiographical plays. It hosted 5 premieres of five new productions developed in the “Write Yourself” workshop, 6 new plays presented as staged readings, and one invited show- “Solpadeine is my boyfriend”, by Stephanie Preissner, produced by “With an F productions” company, Dublin
2011- “The Write Yourself month”– a one-month festival presenting the first 8 new plays developed in the “Write Yourself” workshop between 2010-2011. The plays were performed in public readings in 7 new independent theater venues in Bucharest.
2009- “Size me”- a collaborative performance developed together with Tiina Hallakorpi and Mark Rietema; staged at the Tea Leaf Gallery and part of the in the Brockley Max Festival, London
2009- “Art of being. Images of self”- a collaborative-arts project developed in Centrepoint Camberwell Foyer, one of the biggest hostels for young homeless people in SE London. The project was based on one-to-one documentation and research and aimed to explore together with the participants the notions of identity and images of self. The result of the project was a one-week portraits exhibition in the Camberwell Foyer Lounge in September 2009.
2008- “The evacuation of the House of Students in Timisoara”(2008) is an active art project of social change and responsabilization, dealing with the problem of government-funded spaces for independent artists. The project was produced by the National Theatre from Timisoara&“The Offensive of Generosity”, and its results were presented in a performance played in the the Romanian Playwrighting National Festival in Timisoara, on October 12.
2007- “Build your community”- an “The Offensive of Generosity” project for cultural representation and social change, following as main directions: creativity, documentary and social involvement. This project aims to make people from marginalized communities or communities with problems from Bucharest aware about their right to representation and active in any level of the creative process of writing and building a stage performance. The project deals with the problem of evacuation, homelessness and potential homelessness, and lack of education.
